Yanga came from behind to secure an important 2-1 victory over Mashujaa FC in an NBC Mainland Premier League match played at KMC Complex.
Chrispine Ngushi punished his former club, Yanga, with an early goal in the seventh minute. However, Peter Shalulile brought Yanga back into the game before half-time, finishing a pass from Stephane Aziz Ki, who returned to the squad today after completing his suspension following a red card.
Yanga created numerous chances in the first half, but Mashujaa FC will undoubtedly be grateful to their goalkeeper, who produced an impressive performance by saving several dangerous attempts.
In the second half, the Wananchi appeared to reduce their intensity, while Mashujaa FC strengthened their defensive organisation and looked to threaten through counterattacks.
However, Clement Mzize scored the winning goal for Yanga shortly after coming on in the second half, replacing Juma Abushir, popularly known as ‘Chuga Boy’.
Yanga badly needed the victory to restore the team’s morale after failing to win their previous two league matches.
